Come join a wonderful volunteer family dedicated to alleviating hunger in our community. We have positions available for everyone. Whether at the Food Bank, Thrift Store or H.O.P.E. Backpack Program. We will work with your schedule as well as any limitations you may have.

Food Bank:

Saturday 9AM to 1PM
Shopping: After our clients select the items they need from our in house selection, volunteers go through a behind the scenes shopping area to fill a shopping cart with the items our client has selected.

Client Check In: As clients come in we have volunteers that utilize our computer system to assign the serve for our clients. This helps us track the number of serves, households, and pounds of food we give out each month. Client Check-in volunteers also give out any pertinent information a client may need to know, answer questions they might have, and have them fill out our in house menu for our shoppers to fulfill.

Carts: Volunteers put away our client’s shopping cart filled with the food they will be taking home, and help our clients out to their cars with their carts.

Monday to Saturday 8AM to 2PM
Drivers: Volunteer drivers are needed Monday through Saturday for assistance with the Food Bank, Thrift Store and Backpack program regarding pickup and delivery of various items.

Thursday 9AM to 1PM
Receiving: Volunteers assist our drivers as they bring in the food from our grocery rescue program. All food is weighed in and a pre-sort performed so that the food gets to it’s necessary area i.e. frozen food goes into the freezer, produce to the refrigerator, etc.

Sorting: Volunteers assist with sorted canned goods and produce and then get the crates to their “homes” in the food bank until they are ready to be given out.

Stocking: Volunteers help stock the shopping areas, coolers, and freezers for our next client serve day. We serve our clients on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Thrift Store:

Monday to Saturday 9:30AM to 4PM
Repairs: Volunteers assist us in a work station checking electronics to make sure they work and fixing items that need just a little work to make them sellable.

Receiving: Volunteers help receive donations and assist us with a presort to get the donated items to their designated area where they will have a more refined sort and then priced to go out for sale. Must be able to lift up to 30lbs independently.

Sorting and pricing: Volunteers help sort, clean, and price items to put out onto the sales floor.

Stocking: Volunteers put racks of clothes out from the back pricing room onto the correct rack in the clothing room, as well as carts filled with household items out onto the sales floor in their designated area.

Customer Service: Volunteers help keep our store organized and well merchandised while being available on the floor to help customers with any questions they may have.

Cashier: Volunteers assist with ringing up our customer’s purchases and bagging their items, as well as helping to answer customer questions. All cashier’s help with counting the opening till and the evening till / deposit.

Laundry: Volunteers help with clothing that is worth saving. They help remove stains, steam a wedding dress, and wash and dry clothing and linens.

Monday to Saturday 9AM to 3PM
Drivers: Volunteer drivers are needed Monday through Saturday for assistance with the Food Bank, Thrift Store and Backpack program regarding pickup and delivery of various items.

H.O.P.E. Backpack Program:

Monday and Tuesday 9:30AM to 11:30AM
Filling Packs:
Volunteers go down an assembly line filling bags of food for kids to put into their backpacks at school which allows them to have food over the weekend. During the summer they fill bags that will help feed the child for the entire week.

Stocking: Volunteers assist with receiving food orders and getting them to their designated areas. Must be able to lift 30lbs independently.

Alternate Wednesdays 10:30AM to 12:30PM
Sorting Inventory: 1 volunteer needed. This volunteer helps sort the food orders that have come in into their crates awaiting a place on the assembly line.

Monday to Saturday 8AM to 2PM

Do I need to stand my entire shift?

We have several positions we’re you can either sit or stand.

Where do you get the food from?

We receive food several different ways. We have drivers that go out and do a “Grocery Rescue” from partners in our community. We also have volunteers that participate in A Simple Gesture donations – drivers go directly to a donor’s door and pick up food off their porch every other month. We have local farms that donate, grants that have been awarded, organizations that hold food drives such as the Postal Food Drive. We also have private donors that drop off food to us, and to make sure our clients have the staples they need we purchase items i.e. milk & protein.

What days/ hours are volunteers most needed?

At the Food Bank: Thursday from 9AM to 1PM & Saturday from 9AM to 1PM.
At the Thrift Store: Monday to Saturday 10AM to 4PM.
For the Backpack Program: Monday & Tuesday from 9:30AM to 11:30AM on alternate Wednesdays 10:30AM to 12:30PM.
